"Strings of Atlas sounds like Chuck D of Public Enemy fell in love with a never-ending string of garage-rock guitar riffs and psychedelic classic rock bands like MC5.

"His music combines grunge rock and blues with a hard rock edge, punctuated by his gravelly voice and raw lyrics.

“The love spawn of any orgy weekend, fathered by both Lenny Kravitz and Hendrix, then suckled at the teet of decades of classic rock and a spoonful of blues.”

Memories and the Time machine

As I go through the things in my apartment, the boxes and music and collected papers, memories of how I’ve gotten here come trickling back. From my humbled beginnings in Buda, TX renting a garage and sleeping on a pile of boxes and sheets, to the small apartment to the bigger apartment and steady paycheck. I remember sleeping on couches, floors in the winter, my Chevy Nova in the summer.  The people, the places, the best of times and the waste of times.  Moving is a strange thing. It brings about change in… Read more

On the Road Again

"Oooon the Roaad again", I sing in my best Willie Nelson voice, my words soggy from the constant stream of blood and saliva dripping like an old faucet from my mouth.  My jaw is missing a piece now, a hairline fracture and splitting headache in its place.  I’m sure I look like something crazy from a horror movie right now, eyes up to the computer screen, watching Martin Scorsese’s "The Departed". I like that movie.

My first thought when I started writing today was to pull an office space and say that…Read more

Health and Travel and music

I knew a man, back when I lived in Santa Fe (NM) who used to swear that coconut water was the cure to everything.  Back then, I couldn't drink the stuff.  The taste was bland and the chunks of pulp in the can were more than I could stomach with a meal. Truthfully, Ive never really been a fan of pulp in anything.  Years later, I moved to Austin, city of breakfast tacos and health fanatics ( a bit of a contradiction I suppose).  This is where I came across a variety of coconut waters and learned of the…Read more

No one ever drowned in sweat

“I’m a greater believer in luck, and I find the harder I work, the more I have of it.” – Thomas Jefferson
It’s one thing to have drive and ambition, it’s another thing altogether to actually get off your ass and do some work. It seems that motivation is an easy thing to talk about, to dream about, but staying motivated when you’re doing the actual work needed to make your dreams a reality can all but shut a person down on the spot sometimes.  But we move forward, like a shark in the widest of oceans there… Read more

Newtons 3 Laws

An object at rest will remain at rest unless acted on by an unbalanced force. An object in motion continues in motion with the same speed and in the same direction unless acted upon by an unbalanced force.

This law is often called
"the law of inertia".
The greater the mass (of the object being accelerated) the greater the amount of force needed (to accelerate the object)
For every action there is an equal and opposite re-action. Ever have one of those days where your feet weighed a ton and you just …Read more

Back to the Future

When I was growing up, there was a stigma placed on kids raised without fathers.  It was seemingly set in stone that these kids would grow up to be thieves, abusive, violent and overall a menace to their particular society. Broken homes forged broken people. And while im sure in some cases that may have been true, or just a cop out for people who were already on the fast track to being personality deficient, I’d like to think that I am proof that it wasn’t set in stone.
Father’s day is the only holiday that… Read more

Life on the low side of the Road

“Life is filled with unanswered questions, but it is the courage to seek those answers that continues to give meaning to life. You can spend your life wallowing in despair, wondering why you were the one who was led towards the road strewn with pain, or you can be grateful that you are strong enough to survive it.”
J.D. Stroube, Caged by Damnation

I saw this quote today and started to think about my own path, as it is set out before me right now.  Our apartment complex has decided to…Read more

Heavy Rain

The rain always makes me feel more connected to my surroundings.  When its calm and steady, I feel a kind of peace that lets my mind wander, slows down my heartbeat and lets me take a moment to adjust.  When its falls from the sky in blitz of chemical laden teardrops, I feel the adrenaline. I want to ride my motorcycle through the never ending waves of a Hurricane running up on the land, chug a beer and throw the empty can into the twisting winds of tornado alley, surf the chaos.  Probably not the surfing…Read more

A repost from the SOA Reverbnation Page - Mad World

Mad world

I have no desire to marry ruin or poverty but we've been together for so many years that we should just move to Utah and make our misery official. Its not that Im not grateful for the times, I mean some of my best work has come in their company. And being neck deep in bullshit will undoubtedly make you appreciate the days that it is only knee high, ya know. But I dont think there is anyone on the planet who wants a daily reminder of where they went wrong or what they SHOULD be doing and haven't…
